EU Freezes Assets of Hamas Leader Sinwar

The European Union has imposed sanctions on Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar for his involvement in planning the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, adding him to the EU terror list and freezing his funds and financial assets in EU member states. Reports suggest that Israel knows Sinwar's location but has been unable to strike against him due to his use of Israeli hostages as human shields. Israeli forces have taken over Sinwar's compound in Gaza, but he is believed to have fled to the safety of Hamas' network of tunnels. There are at least 133 Israeli and foreign hostages being held in Gaza, and some released hostages have reported encountering Sinwar after being taken from Israel.
