At least four oil tankers changed course to avoid the Red Sea following joint US-UK airstrikes on Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, amid concerns over Houthi aggression targeting commercial vessels. The strikes were in response to Houthi attacks on international maritime vessels, including the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles. The Danish oil tanker group Torm has temporarily halted its vessels from traveling through the southern Red Sea, and while there have been minimal effects on the US economy, some shippers are taking alternate routes leading to longer shipping times.
