ICC Prosecutor Vows to Ramp Up Investigations After Israel and Ramallah Visits

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, concluded his first visit to Israel and Ramallah by affirming that the investigation into possible crimes committed by Hamas militants and Israeli forces is a priority for the ICC. Khan witnessed "scenes of calculated cruelty" during his visit and called for the release of hostages taken by Hamas. He emphasized the need for compliance with international humanitarian law and expressed concern over settler violence against Palestinians. Khan also stressed the importance of allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza and stated that the ICC is ready to engage with local prosecutors.
