US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has discussed with Israeli officials the possibility of Israel conducting more "surgical" and "lower-intensity" operations in Gaza. Austin reiterated the US government's support for Israel and announced that an international coalition is being formed to protect commercial shipping in the Red Sea, following attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen.
