Israeli Ambassador Accuses UN of Bias and Inaction Amidst Gaza Conflict

Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, has criticized the UN's Commission of Inquiry (COI) for being "antisemitic" and biased against Israel in its investigation into Hamas' crimes of rape and sexual abuse of Israeli women. Erdan argues that the COI, established by the Human Rights Council, lacks credibility and trustworthiness due to its members' pre-existing prejudice against Israel. Critics, including Anne Bayefsky, director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, have accused the COI of stoking antisemitism and running an "antisemitic inquisition." The UN Secretary-General's spokesperson defended the COI's impartiality, while Israel's ambassador called for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas and urged the UN to address the issue of antisemitism within its ranks.
