NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has issued a stark warning, stating that allies should prepare for a long war in Ukraine and emphasizing that if Ukraine stops fighting, the country will cease to exist. Stoltenberg also expressed confidence that Ukraine will eventually become a member of NATO and stressed the need for security guarantees for Ukraine once the war ends to prevent history from repeating itself. At the July NATO summit, leaders agreed that Ukraine could join the alliance once certain conditions, including democratic reforms, are met.
