Russia's Military Buildup in the West: Countering the NATO Threat

Russia's Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, announced plans to build up forces at its western borders in response to Finland's accession to NATO, which has almost doubled Russia's land border with the alliance. Shoigu also expressed concerns about the future entry of Sweden into NATO and accused the collective West of waging a proxy war against Russia through its support for Ukraine. He highlighted Poland's intention to build the most powerful army on the continent and criticized the increased presence of NATO military units in eastern Europe. Shoigu stated that these security threats require a timely and adequate response, and discussions will be held to neutralize them.
