Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has threatened retaliation against G7 countries for using frozen Russian assets as reparations for Ukraine. Volodin claimed that Russia has moral and legal grounds to take action against G7 countries and called the decision to use Russian assets a "crime." He argued that this move would harm the United States and its allies, as it would discourage investment due to the risk of funds being stolen under pretexts. The G7 countries froze $280 billion in Russian assets and pledged to keep them frozen until Russia compensates Ukraine for the damage caused. The US Congress and the European Union are also considering redirecting frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's reconstruction.
