The restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia has caused Israel to pause negotiations over an advanced defense system it was discussing selling to an Arab nation, due to concerns that Israeli tech could eventually be transferred to Iran. Israel is also worried about China's increasing presence in the Gulf region and Africa, as it disentangles itself from relations with Beijing. China has stepped up its ballistic missiles program with Saudi Arabia, and is hoping to fill the gap left by Russia's exhausted arms industry in Africa.
