"Taiwan on High Alert as 39 Chinese Warplanes and Carrier Spotted"

Taiwan has reported detecting 39 Chinese warplanes and an aircraft carrier near the island, following the transit of a US destroyer and a Canadian frigate through the Taiwan Strait. China's Shandong carrier was detected sailing eastward and entering the Western Pacific for training. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province and has increased military and political pressure on the island in recent years. The US and its allies have been conducting "freedom of navigation" crossings in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea to assert their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, which has angered Beijing.
