Turkey is deploying a commando battalion to Kosovo as part of Nato's peacekeeping mission to quell unrest in the Balkan country. The move comes after ethnic Albanians took control of local councils in Kosovo's north, which had been predominantly Serb, resulting in violence and clashes with police and Nato soldiers. The US has sanctioned the Kosovan government for not running its decision-making process through Washington first, while avoiding criticising Serbia to keep the close Russian ally from slipping further into Moscow's embrace.
