"Ukraine and Russia Conduct Historic Prisoner Exchange Following Plane Crash"

Russia and Ukraine have completed their first prisoner exchange since the crash of a Russian military transport plane carrying prisoners of war. The exchange involved 195 soldiers from each side, with the Russian Ministry of Defence stating that its soldiers would receive medical and psychological treatment in Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described it as one of the biggest swaps so far, with 207 Ukrainians returned. The two countries have been carrying out periodic prisoner swaps via intermediaries since the war began nearly two years ago, despite the absence of peace talks. The crash of the Russian plane had cast doubt on the future of such exchanges, with Moscow claiming that the plane was shot down by a US-made Patriot missile.
