Ukraine Launches Strike on Russian-Held City Amid Talk of Counteroffensive
Russian student Olesya Krivtsova, who criticized the war in Ukraine, has fled to Lithuania and is on Moscow's list of most wanted criminals. The battle for the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut has turned into a "slaughter-fest" for the Russians, with the Wagner mercenary group suffering heavy casualties, according to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley. Germany has agreed to allocate an additional $13 billion worth of military support to Ukraine over the next decade. Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova says the whole of Ukraine is traumatized since Russia's invasion last year. Ukrainian skeleton star Vladyslav Heraskevych says the IOC's decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions comes as a "slap in the face" to Ukrainians.
