UN court hears Ukraine accuse Russia of downing MH17 as a terrorist state.

Ukraine and Russia will face off at the International Court of Justice over Moscow's support for pro-Russian forces blamed for "insurrection" against the Ukrainian state and armed violence that included the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 in 2014, killing all 298 passengers and crew. Ukraine claims that Russia "instigated and sustained an armed insurrection against the authority of the Ukrainian State in eastern Ukraine" and violated the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism adopted by the UN. A finding by the ICJ that Russia equipped and funded fighters in eastern Ukraine responsible for the MH17 disaster would be a defeat for Moscow, which has repeatedly denied sending troops or military equipment to eastern Ukraine in 2014.
