UN seeks innovative solutions for Afghanistan's Taliban challenge

The United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution calling for independent recommendations on how to deal with Afghanistan's Taliban government, including their crackdown on women and girls' rights. The resolution also addresses other challenges facing Afghanistan, such as the dire humanitarian situation, security and terrorism, and promoting dialogue and improving governance. The UN Security Council has instructed Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to submit a report with "forward-looking recommendations" in mid-November.
