US Assists South Korea in Retrieving Wreckage from North's Failed Spy Satellite Launch

The United States is assisting South Korea in retrieving wreckage from North Korea's failed reconnaissance satellite launch. The two countries are working together to salvage the space launch vehicle from the Yellow Sea and analyze the launch. The South Korean military has not ruled out the possibility that North Korea intentionally destroyed the rocket after its failure. This was North Korea's second failed attempt to put a reconnaissance satellite into orbit since May 31. The launch has been condemned as a violation of Security Council resolutions, and U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres called on North Korea to cease such acts and resume dialogue for peace and denuclearization.
