US Sends Nuclear Submarines to South Korea for Protection Against North Korea.

The US and South Korea will sign an agreement that includes plans to have US nuclear-armed submarines dock in South Korea for the first time in more than 40 years, aimed at deterring North Korea from carrying out an attack on its neighbor. The agreement seeks to allay South Korean fears over the North’s aggressive nuclear weapons program and to ward off the country from restarting its own nuclear program. The agreement also calls for the US and South Korean militaries to strengthen joint training and better integrate South Korean military assets into the joint strategic deterrence effort.
