Belgian aid worker and Iranian diplomat freed in prisoner swap.

Belgian aid worker Olivier Vandecasteele has been released from prison in Iran after more than a year, following a prisoner swap deal facilitated by Oman. In exchange, Iranian diplomat Assadolah Assadi was released from Belgium and is on his way back to Iran. Vandecasteele had been sentenced to 40 years in prison, 74 lashes, and a $1 million fine on charges of espionage and money laundering. The Belgian government had been advocating for his release, and the prisoner exchange was made possible through diplomatic efforts.
