India demands return of 2-year-old Ariha Shah from German foster care.

Indian MPs from 19 political parties have written a joint letter to the German ambassador in New Delhi, asking for the repatriation of Ariha Shah, a baby girl living in foster care in Berlin for over 20 months, to India. Ariha was taken by German authorities in 2021 after her grandmother accidentally hurt her, leading to allegations of sexual abuse against her parents. Despite no formal charges being filed against the parents, Ariha remains in custody of German authorities. The MPs have raised concerns about cultural differences and Ariha's upbringing in foster care. The Indian government has asked for the child to be repatriated to India to a Jain foster home under the supervision of India's child welfare services.
