Assessing the Effectiveness of F-16s in Ukraine's Battle Against Russian Air Superiority

The lessons from Israel's successful attack on Syrian air defenses in 1982 can be applied to Ukraine's current conflict with Russia. While Russian air defenses are formidable, they have vulnerabilities that can be exploited through an integrated air campaign. Ukraine needs modern combat aircraft and associated weapons, as well as training and support, to establish air superiority and gain an advantage over Russian forces. By challenging Russian air defenses, Ukraine sends a signal to other adversaries that the West will not give up when faced with ground-based air defenses.
