"NATO Conducts Largest European Air Drills in Germany"

NATO is set to hold its largest air force deployment over Europe in Germany, with 10,000 participants and 250 aircraft from 25 countries taking part in the Air Defender 23 exercise. The drills are designed to simulate a response to an attack on a NATO member country, with the US sending 100 aircraft and 2,000 personnel. German Air Force Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz said the exercise was designed to show a "defensive" posture toward Russia. The drills are expected to have only a minor impact on civilian air traffic.
