NATO Launches Historic Air Force Exercise to Demonstrate Strength

NATO has launched its largest ever air exercise, the Air Defender exercise, in Germany with around 10,000 personnel and 250 aircraft from two dozen NATO countries and Japan. The exercise is aimed at sending a clear message that NATO is ready to defend every inch of Allied territory in the face of the biggest security crisis in a generation. Although the exercise was planned years ago, officials expect Russian leadership to take note. The drill will focus on protecting NATO cities and critical infrastructure from aircraft, drones, and missile attacks.
