Russia Expands Drone Warfare, Challenging Ukraine's Defense
TL;DR
Russia has deployed jet-powered Shahed-238 kamikaze drones in Ukraine, posing a significant challenge to Ukrainian air defenses due to their high speed and altitude, which make them harder to intercept and require expensive countermeasures. The drones, based on Iranian designs, are part of Russia's strategy to overwhelm Ukraine's defenses and test new tactics, while Ukraine struggles to develop effective interceptors and scale production amid ongoing attacks and supply chain issues.
