7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Pacific Near New Caledonia, Triggering Tsunami Warning.

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Pacific Ocean east of New Caledonia, according to the US Geological Survey. The quake was 35km deep and any tsunami waves are expected to be less than 0.3 metres. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the waves may reach the Pacific islands of Fiji, Kiribati, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna. On Friday, a 7.7-magnitude quake hit the same area, prompting a tsunami warning that was later lifted.
