Assad's Syria rejoins Arab League after readmission.

The Arab League has agreed to readmit Syria into the group of 22 Arab nations after more than a decade of isolation, complicating American efforts to isolate President Bashar al-Assad and signaling a waning of U.S. influence in the Middle East. While many Arab officials remain disdainful of Mr. Assad, they say international policies isolating Syria have proven to be counterproductive over time, strengthening the influence of Iran, which backs Syria.
