Biden dampens Ukraine's NATO membership aspirations.

President Joe Biden has said that Ukraine is not ready to join NATO, citing the need for government reforms. He disputed reports that he supported waiving the requirement for Ukraine to obtain a Membership Action Plan (MAP) to join NATO, saying that they must meet the same standards as every other nation in NATO. Concerns about political corruption have thus far kept Ukraine out of NATO, and other member states have also raised concerns about whether Ukraine is ready to join the international alliance.
