Biden Takes Action on Sudan Conflict with Sanction Threats.

President Joe Biden issued a statement calling for a durable ceasefire in Sudan and condemning the violence that has already claimed hundreds of civilian lives. The United States has facilitated the safe departure of thousands of people and is responding to the unfolding humanitarian crisis. Biden also issued a new Executive Order that expands U.S. authorities to respond to the violence with sanctions against individuals responsible for threatening peace, security, and stability, undermining Sudan's democratic transition, using violence against civilians, or committing serious human rights abuses.
