Chad's army disarmed a Sudanese contingent of 320 soldiers who entered the country on Monday, according to Defence Minister Daoud Yaya Brahim. The confrontation between the two countries may create new waves of refugees, and maintaining security will become difficult. Chad's government closed its border with Sudan on Saturday amid an apparent coup attempt in Khartoum by Sudan's main paramilitary group. Chad has hosted more than 400,000 Sudanese refugees in the past and is now welcoming and protecting thousands more who are crossing the border to seek protection.
