Egypt demands return of troops from Sudan amidst ongoing clashes.
Egypt has given the leader of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Hemedti, a 72-hour ultimatum to return Egyptian troops apprehended in Sudan or face consequences. The first batch of Egyptian troops have already returned to Cairo, and the remaining troops are expected to arrive within hours. The Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) Special Forces Unit is carrying out evacuation operations in cooperation with the Egyptian Armed Forces. The Sudanese Foreign Ministry condemned the RSF for continuing to apprehend Egyptian soldiers and called on the international community to condemn such actions. The conflict between the Sudanese Army and the RSF has killed about 270 people and wounded more than 2,600 as of Tuesday, with fighting still ongoing.
