"Egypt's President el-Sisi Faces Opposition as He Announces Third Term Bid"
TL;DR
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced his candidacy for a third term in office, with the election scheduled for December. However, opposition politicians claim that their candidates are facing harassment and intimidation, and citizens attempting to nominate challengers to el-Sisi have encountered obstacles. Egypt's political opposition has criticized the lack of freedom of expression and the crackdown on dissent under el-Sisi's rule. Despite a few politicians announcing their bids, none pose a significant challenge to el-Sisi, who has been in power since 2014.
