El-Sisi secures landslide victory in Egyptian election, despite challenges
TL;DR
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has won a third term in Egypt's election, securing 89.6 percent of the vote with a turnout of 66.8 percent. Despite various crises in the country, including the Israel-Hamas war and economic troubles, there was no serious opposition to Sisi due to a decade-long crackdown on dissent. Sisi is set to serve his final term starting in April, tightening his grip on power after extending the presidential mandate and raising the limit on consecutive terms.
