Erdogan secures 20-year rule in polarizing election victory.

President Tayyip Erdogan won Turkey's election with 52.2% of the vote, extending his rule into a third decade. His rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu said it was "the most unfair election in years" but did not dispute the outcome. Erdogan's victory reinforces his image of invincibility in the deeply divided NATO-member country, whose foreign, economic and security policy he has redrawn. Erdogan declared democracy the winner and called for unity, but the opposition accused him of undermining democracy as he amassed ever more power.
