Global Debt Crisis: Calls for Action from G7 Leaders.

African Catholic Bishops representing Caritas organizations of 23 African nations have urged the G7 leaders to take concrete measures to help Africa address its food and climate crisis and ever-growing poverty, including the cancellation of "unpayable" debt, increased aid, and fairer trade policies. The bishops warn that growing levels of food insecurity are exacerbating conflict and social tensions in many African countries, making governance more fragile. They call for higher financial resource contributions from wealthier states and a change in the current global economic policies to benefit everyone.
