Glucksmann kicks off left-wing bid for 2027 French presidency

Raphaël Glucksmann, 46, a former essayist turned MEP and head of Place Publique, announced on TF1 that he will run in France’s 2027 presidential election, joining a crowded left field. A Socialist Party–Place Publique primary is planned in October to consolidate the left, leveraging PS machinery though the process may be restricted to party members. His partner Léa Salamé may step back from France 2 to avoid conflicts of interest during the campaign. Polls place Glucksmann at around 10–12% with a decent European showing, but a second-round path remains uncertain.
