Imran Khan's Legal Battles and Political Turmoil in Pakistan

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared in court under heavy security cover as his supporters clashed with police in Islamabad. His arrest earlier this week, which sparked deadly unrest, was ruled "invalid and unlawful" by the Supreme Court on Thursday. Violence sparked by Khan's arrest has aggravated instability in the country of 220 million people at a time of severe economic crisis. Nearly 2,000 people have been arrested for violence since Khan's detention on Tuesday and at least eight have been killed.
