Iranian Female Journalist Faces Trial for Reporting on Amini Protests

Iranian journalist Elaheh Mohammadi has been tried in a closed court on charges linked to her coverage of the funeral of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish-Iranian woman whose death in custody last year triggered months of unrest. Mohammadi and another journalist, Niloofar Hamedi, have been accused of "colluding with hostile powers" for their coverage of Amini's death, a charge that potentially carries the death penalty under Iranian law. The two journalists have been held in Iran's notorious Evin prison since last September and will be tried separately.
