Israeli Protests Against Judicial Reforms Continue for 11th Week

Israelis have protested for the 11th consecutive week against the judicial reform plans of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hard-right government, which would increase the power of politicians over the courts. Protesters fear that the proposed reforms are a threat to Israeli democracy. Demonstrations took place in more than 100 towns and cities, including Haifa, Jerusalem, and Beersheba. The reforms would allow lawmakers to scrap supreme court rulings with a simple majority vote and give more weight to the government in the committee that selects judges.
