Mahmoud Abbas seeks Chinese support for Palestine.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has arrived in Beijing for a four-day state visit, during which he is expected to meet with China's President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. China has expressed its willingness to help facilitate Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. Beijing has been seeking to boost its ties to the Middle East and has challenged long-standing US influence in the region. The US has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to undermine prospects for a Palestinian state, but peace negotiations have been stalled since 2014.
