NATO makes final push to include Sweden in upcoming summit.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg plans to hold an urgent meeting to try to overcome Turkish objections to Sweden joining the military organization before the upcoming summit in Lithuania. Turkey accuses Sweden of being too lenient towards groups that Ankara says pose a security threat. Stoltenberg has held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and senior officials from Sweden and Finland. Sweden and Finland abandoned their traditional positions of military nonalignment to seek protection under NATO’s security umbrella.
