"Pope's Visit to Hungary Highlights Diverging Views on Christianity and Refugees"

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has positioned himself as both an ally of Donald Trump and of Pope Francis, may face a difficult test as the pope arrives in Budapest on April 28 for a three-day visit to the Hungarian capital. While Orbán has made great efforts to project a united front with the more globally minded Francis and the Holy See, claiming that Hungary and the Vatican are the only two powers truly working for peace in Ukraine, the pope's peace message on Ukraine may not align with Orbán's geopolitical alignment with Moscow. The pope will also meet with refugees, including those from Ukraine, during his second day in the capital.
