Russia Deploys Nuclear Weapons to Belarus, Lukashenko Confirms

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko announced that Russia has started moving nuclear weapons to Belarus after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to transfer them in March. Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya criticized the move, saying it would endanger the lives of Belarusians and create a new threat against Ukraine and all of Europe. Tactical nuclear arms are battlefield weapons that have a smaller yield compared to long-range strategic weapons. Belarusian troops began training on nuclear-capable Russian missile systems in April.
