India's foreign minister held talks with his Chinese and Russian counterparts on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Goa. The focus of the talks with China was on resolving outstanding issues and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas. India and China are embroiled in an intense three-year standoff involving thousands of soldiers stationed along their disputed border in the eastern Ladakh region in the Himalayas. The talks with Russia covered bilateral, global, and multilateral cooperation. The SCO summit is expected to discuss deepening economic and security cooperation in the region.
