Sierra Leoneans Head to the Polls to Elect Next Leaders.

Sierra Leoneans are voting in a general election to elect their next president and members of parliament. Incumbent President Julius Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is seeking a second term in a straight contest against Samura Kamara of the All Peoples Congress (APC), with 11 other candidates also vying for the presidency. If no candidate secures 55% of valid votes cast in the first ballot, the top two candidates will compete in a run-off two weeks after the announcement of the first-round result.
