Sudan's Civil War Crisis: Impact on Relief Efforts and Democracy Hopes.

Sudan's vast landscape, multiple ethnic, linguistic and tribal differences, and historical division between the north and south have contributed to the country's repeated internal conflicts. Two rival generals have been fighting for control of the capital Khartoum, raising fears of another major conflagration. Previous peace deals kept military figures in positions of power, which created conditions that then led to future conflicts. The current fighting could potentially be even more devastating, with more than 500 people killed in and around Khartoum.
