Sweden Approves NATO Membership.

Swedish lawmakers have voted overwhelmingly in favor of the country joining NATO, with 269 out of 349 members of parliament approving the move. The decision was seen as a formality, with six of the eight parties represented in parliament in favor of NATO membership. Both Sweden and neighboring Finland applied to join NATO in May 2022, abandoning decades of non-alignment in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, two NATO countries, Turkey and Hungary, have yet to ratify the Nordic nations’ applications.
