Taiwan's President's Americas Visit Ruffles China's Feathers

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-Wen is on a 10-day trip to the Americas, visiting Belize, Guatemala, and the US, as China pressures its allies to switch diplomatic ties from Taiwan to the mainland. Beijing has threatened "resolute countermeasures" should Tsai meet with current Speaker Kevin McCarthy next week. Taiwan's official number of diplomatic partners has dwindled from 14 to 13, with five Central American and Caribbean nations switching their diplomatic ties from Taiwan to Beijing since Tsai took power.
