Tensions rise between China and Japan at G7 summit.

China has summoned the Japanese ambassador to protest against "hype around China-related issues" at the G7 summit, accusing Japan of collaborating with other countries to "smear and attack China" and violating the basic principles of international law. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary said the country's policy towards China has been consistent, insisting on matters that are needed and urging responsible behaviour, while taking steps to address concerns and cooperate on common issues. The G7 expressed serious concerns about rising tensions in East and South China Seas, as well as human rights situations in China, including in Tibet and Xinjiang.
