Thailand's Opposition Sweeps Election, Ending Military Rule.

Thailand's opposition parties, Move Forward and Pheu Thai, have won the general election, outperforming other contenders and campaigning for reform of the military and monarchy. Incumbent Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who came to power in a 2014 coup, was blamed for a stuttering economy, pandemic response shortcomings and thwarting democratic reforms. The winner is not assured the right to form the new government, with a joint session of the 500-seat House of Representatives and the 250-member Senate set to select the prime minister in July.
