The Ongoing Crisis of Child Deportations from Russia to Ukraine.

A Ukrainian woman attempting to retrieve her godson and his brother from Russia has been detained and deported from Moscow. The woman claimed she was instructed to retrieve the boys, who had been taken from southern Ukraine's Moscow-occupied Kherson region. The Save Ukraine foundation, which the woman was allegedly working with, denied any involvement with the SBU security service. Ukraine claims that over 19,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia since the invasion in February 2022, with many believed to have been placed in institutions and foster homes. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for President Putin and his children's rights commissioner over the "unlawful deportation" of Ukrainian children, which a UN investigation has determined to be a war crime.
