Turkish MP Dies After Heart Attack Following Controversial Remarks on Israel

Hasan Bitmez, a Turkish opposition lawmaker from the Felicity Party, has died two days after suffering a heart attack and collapsing in parliament while delivering a speech criticizing the government's policy towards Israel. Bitmez had been criticizing President Erdogan's ruling AK Party for continuing trade with Israel despite the conflict in Gaza. After finishing his speech, he suddenly fell backward and was rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that his heart's main veins were completely blocked. Bitmez's death comes as a blow to the opposition bloc, which had formed an alliance with the main opposition party in the May presidential elections.
